SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities investigated reports of shots fired near the George Bailey Detention Facility in Otay Mesa Friday morning, said the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

A call came in just before 7 a.m. reporting gunfire, with deputies immediately responding to the scene to investigate, authorities explained.

According to the department, there was “restricted inmate movement” at that time, meaning recreation and outdoor activities were halted until their investigation was completed.

In an update around 9 a.m., the sheriff’s department said the incident had been cleared after nothing out of the ordinary was found.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.
