Carlsbad Police searching for armed suspect in Bressi Ranch area

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Police in North County searched for a suspect who was reported to be armed with a knife in Carlsbad Saturday evening to no avail.

Carlsbad Police issued a public announcement on X at 6:45 p.m. Saturday that the ABLE police helicopter was making announcements in the Bressi Ranch area of Carlsbad, near El Fuerte Street and Gateway Road, as police searched for a man suspected to have been armed with a knife in the area.

In an update just before 8 p.m., the police department said they were unable to locate the suspect after police searched the area for around an hour. Carlsbad Police said witnesses at the scene reported to officers that the suspect may have already left the area before they arrived.

According to the police department, the suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 5’6″, heavyset, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.

Carlsbad Police are asking anyone who may have seen an altercation in that area on Saturday to contact their non-emergency line at 442-339-2197 to speak with an officer.
