    Man, 21, shot dead in East County; no arrests made

    LEMON GROVE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in Lemon Grove Saturday night, authorities said.

    According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were in the 3000 block of Lemon Grove Avenue around 11:30 p.m. when they heard several gunshots ring out.

    While checking the nearby business area, the deputies were told that there was a group of people arguing in the 3100 block of School Lane. While responding to the area, authorities found the 21-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

    The man was transported to a local hospital by the Heartland Fire Department, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld at this time pending a positive identification from the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

    Sheriff’s homicide investigators are working to gather more information to determine the circumstances and motivation behind the fatal shooting. At this time, there is no confirmed suspect information. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
