Multiple people injured in head-on collision

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Multiple people were sent to the hospital Sunday morning after a head-on collision in East County, said California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of 1601 Mirage Court, which is located in the Rancho San Diego community.

CHP Sgt. Mary Bailey told FOX 5/KUSI at the scene that two vehicles collided at an intersection where one had a stop sign and the other had a through.

The driver of both vehicles, as well as an unknown amount of occupants, were all transported to a local hospital for treatment. Sgt. Bailey said some of them were considered to be in serious condition.

The roadway was temporarily blocked for an investigation and cleanup efforts.
