    Hillcrest hit by series of suspected hate crimes

    SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Police are searching for suspects involved in a series of suspected hate crimes in the Hillcrest area after more than one person was shot with gel pellets over the past week.

    Officers with the San Diego Police Department are actively searching for suspects after four people were shot and injured by gel pellets by men driving around in a minivan.

    The police department reports the latest shooting happened at 2 a.m. Sunday near 10th Avenue and University Avenue.

    All of the incidents happened in the Hillcrest neighborhood and police did confirm none of the victims were seriously injured.

    Police investigating string of drive-by pellet gun shootings as possible hate crimes

    Police describe the suspects as several men who were seen driving around in a light-colored minivan. At this time, police have not provided detailed suspect descriptions.

    The police department did say they are investigating the incidents as hate crimes.
