SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego is among the best cities for quick commutes, according to a new report by Lyft.

The report, published Wednesday, looked at data from millions of Lyft rides to analyze where travelers had the “shortest, cheapest and greenest” commutes and gave each U.S. city an overall score based on the results.

San Diego ranked No. 7 in a list of U.S. cities with the shortest commutes, the report showed. It said people in San Diego spend an average of more than 24 minutes getting to their offices. Lyft also reported that San Diegans go an average speed of just over 27 miles per hour to and from work.

The average commute time in minutes was calculated using the 2022 American Census Survey, according to Lyft. The traffic speed was calculated as the average during commuting hours (6 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 8 pm. from Aug. 2023 to last month).

All respondents had to be over the age of 18 and regularly commute to work in order for their data to qualify.

Although workers in San Diego may have the quickest commutes, the city was listed as being among the most expensive for average monthly fuel costs at $50.

Columbus, Ohio topped the list for best overall commute, followed by El Paso, Texas and Las Vegas, Nev.
