EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Four people linked to a fentanyl bust in El Cajon were arrested, authorities said.

The arrests stemmed from an April 29 report of suspicious activity of possible drug transactions involving a vehicle in the 500 block of North Second Street, Lt. Will Guerin with the El Cajon Police Department said in a news release Thursday.

Authorities conducted a search of the vehicle and found fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and more evidence of fentanyl sales, police said.

Jordan Fox, 20, as well as another person, was arrested and charged with possession of drugs for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fox, who had an outstanding warrant for theft and prior arrests for robbery and theft, was sentenced to 113 days in jail and released on supervised probation.

During the investigation, detectives identified 35-year-old Joshua Kavaney of San Diego as a suspect linked to where the fentanyl came from.

A search warrant conducted on Tuesday at Kavaney’s home in the 3000 block of Murray Ridge Road led to the detention of 27-year-old Brittnee Gilmer and discovery of around two ounces of fentanyl, multiple firearms including a ghost gun, firearm silencer, machine gun conversion switch, body armor and a substantial amount of cash, police said.

Gilmer and Kavaney, also found to be in possession of an illegal credit card skimming device and drug paraphernalia, were arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges.

Kavaney was held on $500,000 bail, and Gilmer was booked into jail and later released on bond.
