SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A new report that looked at how inflation affects people in different parts of the United States found that San Diego is among the top cities feeling the worst impacts.

The data in the report was compiled by WalletHub, a personal finance company, and published on Wednesday. It compared 23 major metropolitan statistical areas across two metrics related to the consumer price index.

Specifically, analysts looked at the latest month for which data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics was available and compared the consumer price index two months prior and one year ago to see how inflation has changed.

San Diego-Carlsbad ranked No. 6 on the overall list of cities with the biggest inflation problems, reporting a consumer price index change of 0.6% between the latest month and two months before. It also had a change of 3.5% between the latest month and last year, according to WalletHub.

Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington topped the overall list, followed by Chicago-Naperville-Elgin and Detroit-Warren-Dearborn. San Diego-Carlsbad was preceded by Urban Honolulu at No. 4 on the overall list and New York-Newark-Jersey City at No. 5.

Minneapolis also placed at the top of WalletHub’s list of cities with the biggest consumer price index change specifically between the latest month of available data versus two months before. Chicago, Detroit, Denver and San Diego rounded out the top five on this separate list.

San Francisco, Dallas and Riverside, on the other hand, saw the lowest change in inflation between the latest month and two months prior.

Meanwhile, Honolulu had the biggest change when compared to a year ago and Anchorage had the least, according to WalletHub.
