SAN DIEGO (FOX 5) — A few light rain showers were felt mainly in mountain areas of San Diego County Sunday night and Monday morning as a storm system to the north began setting in to start the week.

Most rain amounts were barely measurable and mainly observed in higher terrain. Trace amounts record in Oceanside, Julian and Escondido Monday morning. Shower activity is decreasing, but there is still a slight chance for some drizzle in those same areas for Tuesday morning.

The main weather story will be cooler than normal temperatures and windy conditions this afternoon and for Tuesday.

    MORE: Weather

A Wind Advisory is active for San Diego County deserts through Monday evening with peak westerly winds 45 to 55 miles per hour.

Beyond Tuesday morning, dry conditions are in the forecast with a few degrees of warming before another low-pressure system swings south and brings similar conditions.

Tuesday daytime highs will top out well below normal (20 to 25 degrees cooler for areas east of the beaches) for all areas with low 70’s at the coast and valleys, low 60’s for mountains and mid-80’s for the deserts.

A warm up is anticipated heading into the weekend and early next week.
