SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego City Council is considering a resolution on Monday to declare safety on the city’s network of streets as a top transportation priority, initiating the exploration of possible solutions to prevent traffic-related injuries and fatalities.

According to city staff, more than 70 people have died in traffic-related incidents almost every year since 2019.

Should the resolution be passed, it would build off of other efforts to improve the safety of street infrastructure, including the “Zero Vision” Strategic Plan and “Complete Streets Policy.”

I'm guessing it will have an inverse effect. Insurance companies have been telling us for decades that the vast majority of car accidents happen at lower speeds. Plus, you add in all the new bike lanes, plus all the extra traffic now, the decrease in parking spots, the speed limiters... yeah... inverse effect.
