New park to feature skatepark, soccer and baseball fields in East County

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Whether you are an athlete or just looking to walk your dog, there’s a new multi-purpose park coming to Spring Valley.

Crews last week broke ground on Calavo County Park, the new nine-acre park located off Calavo Drive near Jamacha Boulevard, the County of San Diego said on its website Monday.

The park, which features around 200 drought-tolerant trees and 6,000 shrubs, offers the following amenities:

• All-wheel park or skatepark
• Two playgrounds
• Nature play apparatus
• Basketball and pickleball court
• Soccer and baseball field
• Off-leash dog park

A live-on volunteer host will be able to reside in a pad at the park to perform on-site maintenance and security overnight, as well as assisting with park programs, according to the county.

There will also be 85 parking spots available for parkgoers.

Calavo County Park is expected to open in fall 2025.
