    Over 500 South Bay residents without power after crash

    SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Hundreds of South Bay residents lost power Tuesday morning after a car collided with a trailer park’s power box.

    The crash was reported at the La Palma Trailer Park at 2420 Palm Ave. around 3 a.m., according to San Diego police. One person was injured in the incident and they were transported to the nearby UC San Diego Health medical center for treatment.

    Further details about what led up to the collision are not known at this time. An investigation remains ongoing.

    As a result of the crash, power was cut off to 500 residents in Nestor, San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

    It is one of three crash-related power outages throughout San Diego County. Per the utility company’s outage map , vehicle collisions also caused blackouts for 440 households in southern Escondido and 14 in western San Marcos.

    According to SDG&E, power has since been restored to the impacted customers.
