Newsom takes action on housing and homelessness: how will it affect San Diego?

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Governor Gavin Newsom is taking action Thursday to address homelessness and affordable housing across California. Those implications will have affects here at home in San Diego.

Here’s a breakdown of a few issues his law-making will address:

— Legislation will expand affordable housing, including state funds that can be used in San Diego County.

— Legislation will address homelessness, including encampment bans and the availability of homeless shelters.

— New statewide efforts related to mental health.
