    Inaugural Taste of College Area happening this weekend

    SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A culinary self-guided tour happening Sunday aims to showcase a diverse array of flavors from the businesses that make up San Diego’s College Area community.

    The inaugural Taste of College Area includes food and drinks from 20 businesses ranging from coffee houses and an ice cream shop to pubs and restaurants.

    Participating restaurants include Cheba Hut, Handel’s Ice Cream, Ultreya Coffee & Tea and more.

    The event will be on Sunday between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the College Area and Rolando neighborhood commercial corridor, which is on El Cajon Boulevard between 54th and 73rd streets. The area includes the San Diego State University campus.

    General tickets are $40 per person. VIP tickets are $50 per person, and include discounted drinks at select bars and pubs as well as a souvenir shot glass. Groups of 10 can purchase tickets at $35 per person.

    The Taste of College Area is hosted by the College Area Business District, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
