RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The Los Osos High School community is mourning another tragic death of a student less than two weeks after its dance captain and cheerleader took her own life.

News of the unidentified student’s death was confirmed by Chaffey Joint Union High School District Superintendent Dr. Mathew Holton.

“We can’t begin to express the depth of our grief over the heartbreaking loss of another student from Los Osos High School,” a portion of a statement by Holton stated Thursday. “Our deepest condolences go to the families and friends of both students lost in recent weeks. We stand united in supporting our community through this difficult time.”

No details about the student’s death were offered. Freelance news video service KNN was at the scene of a fatality on the 210 Freeway near Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga around 1:30 a.m.

The death investigation was taking place at the same location where 17-year-old Emily Gold was found dead on Sept. 13.

Officials have not confirmed any connection between Thursday’s fatality and Gold’s death; however, KNN, citing California Highway Patrol dispatch, reported that a teenager had possibly jumped from the overpass.

Gold’s death came just months after she appeared with her dance team on “America’s Got Talent.”

The students’ deaths come during national suicide prevention month . A suicide and crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day to anyone in need of support and can be reached by dialing 988.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Gold’s family pay for funeral expenses.
