    Armed suspect shot by police in Escondido

    ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Police Department is investigating a shooting involving at least one Escondido police officer on Wednesday that left a suspect in critical condition.

    Around 7:38 p.m., authorities received a call from a woman about a disturbance at the transit center at 700 West Valley Parkway, the Escondido Police Department confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI. The woman explained to police that someone pulled out a gun before the call got disconnected.

    When officers arrived on scene, they found the male suspect and chased after him at the 300 block of North Quince Street.

    At least one officer shot the suspect who was armed with a handgun, according to police. The suspect is in critical condition at the hospital.

    No officers were injured during the incident.
