SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 72-year-old man was fatally hit by a vehicle while walking in the Clairemont neighborhood Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the pedestrian was walking east in a marked crosswalk on Dakota Drive while crossing Clairemont Drive around 7:25 p.m.

At that same time, a 76-year-old woman was driving north on Clairemont Drive. Police said she had stated that she had the green light and proceeded forward. The man reportedly stepped out in front of her vehicle and was hit.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured during the collision.

Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and are investigating the collision. There were no witnesses and driver impairment is not suspected, police said.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

I thought they were supposed have an article proofread by an editor before releasing it to the public. Journalism has really gone into the crapper these days. A bunch of lazy and uneducated slobs.
