SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Dense fog and a thick marine layer have shielded the sun along San Diego’s immediate coast for the last few days, but it’s a completely different story just a few miles inland.

The National Weather Service have issued excessive heat warnings for the inland valleys and deserts, which will remain in place until Monday.

Community assessment for public health emergency response: what to know

San Diego will get just a slight dip in temperatures at the end of the work week as the area of high pressure shifts to the east. However, it will return and hang out over California through the weekend and into early next week.

The high pressure will bring conditions much hotter than normal for this time of year.

Beaches though will be stuck with eerie, foggy conditions that limit visibility and clear slowly, if at all. The marine layer will deepen a bit into Friday, and extend the clouds and fog inland tonight and tomorrow morning.
