SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A woman was critically injured Tuesday after crashing her motorcycle in the Midway neighborhood, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the rider, 33, was traveling eastbound in the 3100 block of Midway Drive around 8:30 p.m. She was riding a 2013 Honda Respol CBR 600RR.

For reasons unknown, the motorcyclist struck the raised concrete center island in the roadway and was ejected. Police said the woman and the motorcycle slid into the westbound lanes, hitting a 2019 silver Dodge Grand Caravan that was driven by a 20-year-old man.

It was reported that the motorcycle continued sliding and hit a second vehicle, described as a 2018 gray Toyota RAV4 that was driven by a 32-year-old man. Neither of the drivers were injured during the collision.

The rider suffered a collapsed lung, fractured collarbone, multiple rib fractures, as well as lacerated liver and spleen. Her injuries are considered to be life-threatening.

SDPD’s Traffic Division responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation. Police said DUI was not a factor in this crash.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
