SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Tuesday marked another victory for the San Diego Padres, with the home team beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
It was the second inning that brought all excitement. Manny Machado cracked a single, Xander Bogaerts whipped a ground ball, David Peralta had a double, and a throwing error by the Dodgers allowed Machado to advance to third.
One memorable moment — arguably the game-winning hit — was when Fernando Tatis Jr. batted a two-run homerun that same inning. This play put the Padres up over the Dodgers by five runs. The photos below recap the moment:
Then in the third inning, the Padres lead fell to just one run after the Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernández connected for a grand slam.
Padres’ pitchers Jeremiah Estrada and Robert Suarez, who threw the final out of the game, made it hard for the Dodgers to mount a comeback in the later innings. Celebration ensued after that final play.
Another memorable moment from the game, especially for fans, was when Blink182’s Tom Delonge lead the Friar Faithful in song . The stands at Petco Park erupted with lyrics from “All the Small Things,” a popular tune from the band known by many.
“Turn the lights off, carry me home.” The Padres have secured another postseason victory.
