    O’Arts Festival to celebrate Oceanside’s cultural heritage this weekend

    OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The vibrant streets of downtown Oceanside will come alive on Saturday, Oct. 19th, as the inaugural O’Arts Festival takes center stage.

    The festival, set to kick off at noon, aims to highlight the unique characteristics that make Oceanside a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. The event will showcase the rich cultural tapestry that defines the Oceanside California Cultural District .

    This year’s festival promises a diverse lineup of activities and performances, with plans to expand in the coming years to include nationally recognized music acts rooted in the community, local professional musicians, visual artists, as well as a variety of local food and beverage offerings.

    ‘Play and be creative’: New art gallery debuts in Carlsbad

    Festivities will take place across various venues, including live music hotspots, restaurants, theaters, museums, galleries, and the newly designated Artist Alley . A special edition of the Oceanside Art Walk , a monthly event held on the first Friday of the month, will be take palce from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Civic Plaza and Artist Alley, showcasing local creativity.

    The Community Stage, featuring presentations and performances from local arts and culture organizations, will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Civic Plaza, providing a platform for local speakers to share their stories and talents. As the sun sets, businesses throughout the district will host events and specials celebrating Oceanside’s vibrant culture until 11 p.m.

    The O’Arts Festival is a continuation of the successful Oceanside Culture Fest, which debuted in 2020 as a virtual event due to pandemic restrictions. The inaugural online festival featured performances from notable artists, including Watkins Family Hour and Shane Hall, alongside a variety of cultural showcases highlighting the region’s artistic talent.

    The event is organized by the Oceanside CA Cultural District steering committee, with title sponsorship by Visit Oceanside . Key figures in its production include Becky Goodman of TenPints Entertainment, Steve Kader of Adams Avenue Street Fair, and Lou Niles of the Oceanside International Film Festival.

    As Oceanside prepares to welcome festival-goers, organizers are excited to foster community engagement and celebrate the local arts scene, promising an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
