Spradlin death suspect temporarily loses dentistry license

FLOYD COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — Michael McKinney II, one of the three men charged in connection to the death of Amber Spradlin, had his Kentucky dentistry license temporarily suspended, according to a letter from the Kentucky Board of Dentistry.

McKinney II, 56, was arrested alongside Josh Mullins, 23, in Floyd County on seven counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence. Michael McKinney III, 24, was arrested in Rowan County and is charged with murder on top of the seven counts.

The Kentucky State Police said a woman, later identified as 38-year-old Spradlin, was found dead on June 18, 2023. They said officials found Spradlin with multiple stab wounds.

According to their indictments, McKinney III is accused of stabbing Spradlin repeatedly, killing her. All three are charged for allegedly removing, concealing or destroying the handle from the knife used, clothing worn by McKinney III, a surveillance camera, a digital video recorder and a hard drive, as well as cleaning up or removing blood from a kitchen and laundry or utility room sink.

Their indictments said the cameras “would have captured the murder,” and the recorder would have recorded that footage. The hard drive was to a computer with information about the surveillance cameras, according to the indictments.

McKinney II was released from custody after posting bond on Thursday, according to the Floyd County Detention Center. His bond had been set at $250,000. McKinney III’s bond is $5 million and Mullins’ is $100,000. They are still in custody as of Friday afternoon.
