    London man arrested, nearly a pound of drugs seized in trafficking investigation

    LONDON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — London police seized nearly a pound of methamphetamine along with multiple bags of marijuana, scales, and scales while serving an arrest warrant on Tuesday.

    The London Police Department (LPD) posted on Facebook Wednesday that officers went to a home on the 300 block of Morgan Street in London to serve an arrest warrant on 44-year-old Robert Laws.

    According to court documents, when the LPD arrived, officers saw Laws inside the home holding a crystal-like substance. Police then announced their presence and entered the home, where Laws was holding a knife.

    A police report said Laws was handcuffed and the LPD searched the home, where officers found approximately a pound of suspected methamphetamine, two scales, pipes, dozens of empty baggies, six bags of marijuana, and a cell phone.

    According to London police, Laws was arrested outside the home and charged with:

    • First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance—first offense
    • Trafficking in marijuana— first offense
    • Possession of drug paraphernalia

    Laws was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
