FRANKFORT, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) —Attorney Anna Whites is speaking on behalf of her client, Democratic Representative, Daniel Grossberg.

“This has dragged many, many innocent people through the mud, and that’s incredibly inappropriate,” Whites said.

Grossberg, the Louisville Democrat, is facing accusations of inappropriate behavior and messages toward women. This prompted an investigation from the Legislative Research Commission.

“Representative Grossberg does not believe, but neither do I, in this process where it’s just rumor and innuendo. I believe that evidence should be put forth. Folks should be able to address that, see it, talk about it, and evaluate it on its face,” said Whites.

She said there is a lack of valid findings in the investigation.

“My understanding is that they did not find any misconduct. They did find some areas in which professional coaching would certainly benefit him, and the LRC generously offered to provide that,” Whites added.

Today, house democratic leaders released a statement announcing the removal of Grossberg from his committee responsibilities during the interim.

It says: “In light of new information Leadership received from LRC officials, it was deemed appropriate to relieve Rep. Grossberg of his committee responsibilities during the interim.  Many committees do not cast votes during the interim and Rep. Grossberg’s constituents will not be impacted by this decision.”

Whites disagreed with the statement’s notion that Grossberg’s constituents would not be impacted.

His removal comes just weeks after Kentucky Young Democrats called for his resignation.

“To remove someone from that position is to effectively disenfranchise at least 46,000 voters,” Whites claimed.

FOX 56 News reached out to the LRC about the “new information” referenced in the statement, but the commission declined to comment on possible investigations or actions that may involve lawmakers.

As this plays out, Whites turns her eyes toward the future of her client’s career.

“I think he anticipates a long career of public service, but there is no discounting the incredibly negative impact of these. Any false or overstated allegations are very harmful,” she said.
