LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Whether you’re traveling to unwind for a while or heading back home, the roads can be dangerous during Labor Day weekend.

Beginning Sept. 1, KSP announced in a news release that troopers will conduct safety traffic checkpoints in various areas across the state to ensure drivers are sober, wearing seatbelts, and driving safely. Post 12 monitors Shelby, Spencer, Franklin, Anderson, Scott, Woodford, and Fayette counties.

Make sure to wear your seat belt!

Deputies use these monthly checkpoints to enhance the enforcement of traffic safety laws in Kentucky, ensuring drivers wear their seatbelts and stay sober on the highways.

Troopers and deputies will also pay special attention to driver’s licenses, insurance, and registration, so make sure your documents are up-to-date before hitting the road.

Drivers who encounter a traffic safety checkpoint will be requested to present their license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. KSP said drivers with this information readily available who have not violated any laws should expect a short delay of 30 seconds to one minute at a checkpoint.

it ain't about being drunk. it's all about mass incarceration.and you can turn around at a certain point before the check point . and they're not supposed to come after u. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to have a sign say last chance turn around check point. but I'm sure they won't have one.
