ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — “It don’t come easy” is a class motto that the Estill County class of 1972 still lives by as they come together years later to host an event for a young boy in their community, “Grayson Gets Mobile.”

Mike Chaney, the representative of the class of 1972 said, “Everyone has a story and we can tell our stories. So, we can also tell Grayson’s.”

2-year-old Grayson suffered from a stage 4 brain bleed before he was born and is now diagnosed with epilepsy, severe cerebral palsy, and vision damage, and has to use a feeding tube.

Organizers said Monday’s event aims to raise money for Grayson’s family to get a wheelchair-accessible car, making it easier for them to travel to and from doctors’ appointments.

Family and friends created a GoFundMe campaign to spread awareness.

Peggy Webb, Grayson’s great-grandmother said, It didn’t look like it was taking off very well. And I said, Just give me the flowers and let me fly with it. So I started trying to get donations from all over Richmond and Irving, and everybody seems to want to participate in it Everybody’s saying, what can I do to help”

That’s when members of the class of ’72 said it was time to step in and lend a helping hand.

“We’re put here to help others, you know, and we should look every day for opportunities and chances to help others, and when you hear of a story like Grayson’s and especially when you’re close to people that you’re involved in, I mean, how can you not help,” said Chaney.
