    Body found in Russell County overgrown field identified

    RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The Russell County Coroner has identified a body found on Sunday night.

    According to the coroner, the body was found in an overgrown field “some distance away from a nearby residence.” The body has been identified as the owner of the residence, Walter “Emery” Thomas.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    The cause of death has not been determined, and the body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

    The investigation is ongoing.

    Law enforcement and rescue crews retrieved a body Sunday night in Russell County.

    In a Facebook post, Russell County Search & Rescue said its team—along with local and state law enforcement, emergency services, coroner, and emergency management—recovered the body from an overgrown field .

    “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time,” Russell County Search & Rescue said in the Facebook post.
