    26-year-old accused of attempted Laurel County murder

    LILY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A 26-year-old Gray man was arrested after a reported early morning “home invasion.”

    Laurel County Sheriff John Root said that around midnight on Monday, a shooting was reported on Wagers Road. When deputies arrived at the Lily home, they found a 38-year-old man whose leg had been “grazed by a bullet.”

    Upon further investigation, deputies said that Joseph Collett reportedly shot and killed the man’s dog, kicked in the door, and “forcibly entered the home.” Collett then allegedly shot the man in the leg and fired multiple shots inside the home, barely missing a four-year-old child.

    According to the sheriff’s office, before leaving, Collett reportedly shot the home multiple times and fled the scene.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    Around 3 a.m., the sheriff’s office said that Collett was located and arrested and charged with attempted murder, first-degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and second-degree cruelty to animals.

    He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
