    ‘Always had a smile’: Family remembers Pike County firefighter who died while responding to mutual aid call

    PIKE COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — A Belfry firefighter who passed away Wednesday night while on a mutual aid call is being remembered by the community and his family.

    Darrell Helton with the Belfry Volunteer Fire Department passed away on a call for mutual aid for a neighboring fire department in Pike County.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    “He always had a smile and a servant’s heart,” Janie Harlow, Helton’s aunt, said. “He was loved by all, especially his family.”

    The VFD is asking community members to keep the Henton family and the department in their thoughts and prayers.
