    Juvenile charged following bomb threat that led to Anderson County school evacuation

    LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A juvenile is facing charges after students at an Anderson County school were evacuated due to a bomb threat.

    The threat was found around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, written in a bathroom, prompting the evacuation.

    According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, a juvenile was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening following a “thorough” investigation.

    The charge is categorized as a class D felony, per authorities.

    “The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, we are grateful for the swift response of school personnel during this incident and responding agencies,” the sheriff’s office said.

    Students at an Anderson County school were evacuated after a bomb threat was made Tuesday morning.

    In a Facebook post around 11:15 a.m., Anderson County Schools said middle school administrators were made “aware of an inappropriate and threatening comment written on a bathroom wall.”

    According to the school district, students were evacuated , law enforcement was notified, and SROs “called for secure instruction at our other campus locations ” as a precautionary measure.

    District leaders asked for cooperation as students were required to stay put while police investigated.

    In an update around 11:25 a.m., Anderson County Schools said it will continue with early dismissal for the elementary schools and Anderson County High School, as advised by police, emergency management, and SROs. The district is still waiting on a dismissal time for the middle school.

    As of 11:30 a.m., the district said the elementary schools and high school were back on schedule and no longer under secure instruction.

    “For ACMS, buses will begin pickup of students for dismissal transportation on regular schedule. After the buses have cleared, car riders will be transported to a separate location,” Anderson County Schools said on Facebook .

    In a 12:22 p.m. update, leaders said ACMS car riders were taken to Anderson County Community Park and were ready for pickup.

    LATEST KENTUCKY LISTS AND RANKINGS:

    “The safety of the students and staff is the highest priority, and thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of school administrators, law enforcement, and emergency personnel, all individuals were safely accounted for and are out of harm’s way,” the school district said on Facebook.

    Law enforcement had cleared the school and determined there was no immediate threat as of 4:20 p.m., and all schools will be open on Wednesday.

    “Additionally, with our most recent Facebook post, we became aware that multiple messages sent via our one-call/one-text system did not successfully get delivered. Moments before each Facebook post, there was an accompanying one-call/one-text sent to parents. We are looking into what may have caused the issue in order to do everything in our power to prevent it from happening in the future,” Anderson County Schools said on Facebook.

    According to the school district, the investigation was turned over to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

    I'm super glad I started homeschooling my kids this year. This is the third or fourth threat to KY schools THIS week.
