Man facing life in prison, pleads guilty in murder of Menifee County mother

FRENCHBURG, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in connection with a deadly beating in 2020.

Commonwealth Attorney Ashton McKenzie said 40-year-old Anthony Hall entered an open plea and a Menifee County jury returned with his prospective sentencing.

Hall is looking at two life sentences, one for murder and one for kidnapping, and two 5-year sentences for tampering with physical evidence and the abuse of a corpse.

McKenzie said the judge determined that each sentence sentence would run consecutively to each other.

On March 30, 2020, 35-year-old Jodi “Shelbiana” Stapleton was reported missing after being last seen in Wellington.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hall, and he was later found in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and arrested.

McKenzie said Stapleton’s body wasn’t recovered until after Hall was arrested and interviewed by the Spartanburg Sheriff’s Department.

Stapleton’s body was later found at a home in Menifee County.

“Her mother and son testified about how loving and caring she was. Describing her as someone who was always laughing and smiling,” McKenzie wrote.

Court documents show Hall’s sentencing is set for Oct. 24.
