    High school football games canceled as I-75 shooter manhunt continues

    LONDON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The Laurel County mass shooting and subsequent manhunt for Joseph Couch have continued to impact the community , especially students .

    Multiple southeastern Kentucky communities near London decided to suspend in-class time for three days, with some districts electing to cancel classes for the whole week.

    Now, it is impacting a weekly ritual for many high school football teams.

    North Laurel and South Laurel high schools have canceled their football games set for Friday.

    North Laurel was set to face Madison Central in Richmond, and South Laurel and Whitley County were supposed to meet in London.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    In Whitley County, Corbin High School was scheduled to host Pulaski County on Friday, but that game has also been canceled.

    Whitley County High School is now set to travel to Campbellsville on Friday.

    At the time of publishing this story, it isn’t known when the fill-in games for the two schools will be. The current schedule shows North Laurel hosting Southwestern on Sept. 27 and South Laurel hosting Estill County on Sept. 20.
