LONDON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The London Police Department is assisting in the ongoing search for Joseph Couch, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t tending to the needs of their local community at the same time.

While London police assist in the ongoing search for Joseph Couch , officers said law enforcement is helping the ciommunity with daily needs. London Police Department public information officer Hobie Daugherty said his team has a good way of finding that balance.

“Our units were some of the first ones called to the scene. We’ve tried to be as part of this as we can. We have several detectives assisting in the investigation, and we have multiple officers on roving patrols constantly. We’re utilizing every piece of technology we can, so if you can think of it, we’re attempting to use it,” Daugherty said.

This means it’s all about resources and keeping a close eye on local crime tips.

“We still have to answer calls and make sure that the community is safe not just from this situation, but also from anything else going on,” Daugherty said.

For local businesses like Sauced, it means they can keep the grind going. The sheriff’s office is just a hop-skip-and a jump away, and that’s why the crew here feels safe. Shift manager Noah Shelton said he’s glad to be part of a community that’s safe enough to keep working without worry of crime.

“We’re actually not worried about crime here just because the London Police Department is right here, and the Sheriff’s Department is right there. It holds up pretty good for us,” Shelton said.

It means the team can keep slinging pizza, while customers can keep enjoying it.

“I’ve talked to a few people that said they’ve been run ragged through it, and I know that’s rather hard for them. I’m very thankful that they’re able to keep looking for the suspect,” Shelton said.

Whether it’s chowing on some hot pizza, or getting a good night’s sleep, the police here just want people to feel safe.

“We realize that everybody is on edge, but we’re out and about doing what we can to bring some normal life to the community so people can function and go through their daily lives as needed,” Daugherty said.
