‘We are determined to ease your stress’ Corbin police approve overtime, ask parents for trust ahead of return to school

CORBIN, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Police in Corbin have announced enhanced security protocols in the area of Corbin Independent Schools as students prepare to return to classes on Monday.

On Saturday the Corbin Police Department (CPD) posted on Facebook that officers are “working diligently with Corbin Independent School administration and Corbin School Resource Officers to ensure a peaceful return to school on Monday and throughout the foreseeable future.”

Authorities said the CPD has approved overtime for officers to come to campuses early and stay late for patrols around school areas in the mornings and evenings from Monday onward.

“We understand it takes a tremendous amount of faith in your school officials and law enforcement to let your children out of your reach,” the CPD said in its Facebook post, “we are determined to ease your stress and keep our students safe.”

Law enforcement said students and families can expect a high level of police presence at Corbin Independent Schools as classes resume.
