    Adair County middle, high schools do away with backpacks after threat

    ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — After a threat to Adair County Public Schools on Wednesday, the district has banned backpacks.

    The district said backpacks would not be allowed on the middle and high school campuses, covering sixth through 12th graders starting Monday.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    This includes both backpacks and large purses but will allow school-issued Chromebook cases, and sleeve-style cases for personal devices, according to the district.

    What bags aren’t allowed at Adair County Schools:

    • All backpacks including clear plastic bag
    • Drawstring bags
    • Large/bulky purses

    What bags are allowed at Adair County Schools

    • School-issued Chromebook sleeves
    • Small purses that aren’t large enough to hold a standard notebook
    • Bags needed for extracurriculars

    Bags needed for extracurriculars, like sports bags, will have to be stored in designated spots in the schools.

    Both schools said on Facebook they would provide lockers to students who needed them.
