ELLIOTT COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is investigating the death of a man after a hunting partner found his body.

Kentucky Fish & Wildlife posted on Facebook Thursday that Eighth District Game Wardens are investigating a hunting incident in Elliott County that led to the death of a 71-year-old man.

Body found near exit 49 on I-75 believed to be Joseph Couch, officials say

A preliminary investigation showed the man allegedly fell from a tree stand where he had been hunting, according to authorities.

The victim was found by his hunting partner after he didn’t return from a late afternoon hunt, per KY Fish & Wildlife.
