    Verbal fight led to alleged shooting in Laurel County

    LONDON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly shooting a man.

    The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said 40-year-old Amy Simpson, from London, was arrested around 9:40 a.m. two miles north of London.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    Authorities said deputies were dispatched after a report of someone being shot.

    A man was found with a gunshot wound to his leg and he was transported to a hospital for treatment.

    Deputies were told that the suspect had fled. Authorities found Simpson a short time later at a home off Love Road.

    The sheriff’s office said their investigation revealed that a verbal altercation led to the alleged shooting, and a pistol was recovered.

    Simpson was charged with first-degree assault and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
