When’s the deadline to register to vote in Kentucky for the presidential election?

KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — Election Day is quickly approaching, but Kentuckians still have time to register to vote.

According to the State Board of Elections, the voter registration deadline in Kentucky is Oct. 7. Online voter registration must be completed by 4 p.m. ET, and mailed voter registration must be postmarked by Oct. 7 to be counted.

You may also turn in your voter registration in person at your area clerk’s office by close of business on Oct. 7.

If you were not registered on or before Oct. 7, you are not eligible to request an absentee ballot or vote in person during the election, per the State Board of Elections.

Can’t make it to the polls? Voters can request an absentee ballot until Oct. 22, according to the 2024 election calendar.

How to register to vote in Kentucky

According to the State Board of Elections, to register to vote, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen and a Kentucky resident for at least 28 days before the election.
• Be at least 18 years old by the next general election
  • Kentucky law allows qualified individuals to register at 17 years old and be able to participate in a primary election if the individual will be 18 years old by the general election
• Not be a convicted felon
• Not have been judged mentally incompetent in a court of law and have voting rights removed
• Not claim the right to vote outside Kentucky

• Visit your County Clerk’s Office to submit an application in person
