FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WOWK) — A juvenile student is being charged with making terroristic threats toward an elementary school in Kentucky.

According to a post on the Floyd County School Facebook page on Monday, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department helped investigate reported threats made at Betsy Layne Elementary School, where officials determined that the charged student had made “implicit threatening statements to other students during the school day.”

The student now faces charges of second-degree terroristic threatening.

“We strongly encourage parents to ensure children understand the severe implications of making threats, even in jest. Discuss the potential legal and personal repercussions. We also ask that parents teach children to report any threats they hear from peers, emphasizing that it’s better to be safe than sorry,” the post said.

The post also said no gun was found, and there was no imminent danger during the incident.
