LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A new law is changing how Kentucky residents renew their driver’s licenses starting in 2025.

The new law will require vision screenings for all Kentucky drivers seeking a license renewal . The exam offered at the KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Offices uses the same test and machine used for first-time drivers.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The screenings will be mandatory for drivers seeking to renew their licenses.

“Multiple states have adopted mandatory vision screenings to ensure drivers have the visual acuity required to operate a vehicle safely,” the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet website said.

Drivers are also able to have the exams done by their vision specialist. The cabinet said a form has to be completed and signed within 12 months of the license renewal.

Did everyone forget that having a drivers license is a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT.

I do not see how they can force anyone to have eye exams to get license. The law states everyone has a right to travel the highways.
