    Over $150K of stolen equipment recovered in Laurel County, arrests pending

    LONDON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A tip to Laurel County detectives and deputies led to a recovery effort worth more than $150,000.

    According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, detectives and deputies learned multiple items believed to be stolen were placed at numerous locations near Johnson Road and Langnau.

    After executing multiple search warrants, generators, tractors, trailers, lawn equipment, and a boom truck were among the “large amount of commercial equipment” recovered, according to the sheriff’s office.

    According to a pair of arrest citations, the investigation led detectives to Scott Fowler and Raymond Burkhead. During interviews with police, both admitted to stealing some of the above items.

    During a search of the property, deputies said they found a silver container that Fowler admitted belonged to him. Inside the container was a white substance believed to be methamphetamine, according to the citation.

    Fowler and Burkhead were arrested and booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.

    Arrest records show that Fowler was charged with:

    • Theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and less than $1,000,000
    • Receiving stolen property worth $10,000 or more
    • Destruction of VIN
    • First-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

    Burkhead was charged with:

    • Theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and less than $1,000,000
    • Receiving stolen property worth $10,000 or more

    Sheriff John Root confirmed more arrests are pending.
