    Kentucky Fish & Wildlife to hold surplus, confiscated items auction: Here’s what will be on the lot

    FRANKFORT, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Throughout the year, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KFWR is required under state law to host an auction for items confiscated in law enforcement investigations, or counted as surplus. From crossbows to trucks to chainsaws, the auction has something for everyone.

    According to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife (KYFWR) website, organizers will hold the live auction on Monday. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. at 1 Sportsman’s Lane in Frankfort with sales kicking off outdoors at 9 a.m. rain or shine.

    Under Kentucky law, only state residents can purchase confiscated items at the auction, per KYFW officials.

    Auction organizers said accepted forms of payment include cash, check, certified check, credit card, or debit card. Final pricing will include a buyer’s premium and credit or debit card use surcharge.

    Checks over $5,000 will require a bank letter guaranteeing payment.​​ Items are sold as-is and will not be available for inspection before the sale. Some items, like firearms, will require a criminal background check. ​

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    Proceeds from the auction will go to the department’s Game and Fish Fund, which is ” used for the department’s normal operating expenses including fish and wildlife conservation and related recreation programs across the Commonwealth.,” according to KYFWR.
