    Kentucky transportation crew members deployed to North Carolina to help those affected by disaster

    KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — Road crews from across Kentucky are heading to North Carolina to make sure people have access to critical roads after flooding and debris have ravaged the state.

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KTC) wrote on Facebook that about 20 crew members embarked on Thursday to provide disaster relief for those affected by Helene.

    “Kentucky Highway Districts 7 and 9 are taking excavators, dump trucks, backhoes, drainage pipes and other equipment to assist the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NDOT) in reopening roads,” KTC officials said.

    More help will follow behind the crew members in the following days, with even more crews and equipment on standby for when help is needed, per transportation leaders.
