5 children taken to hospital after ramp collapse at Prestonsburg carnival

PRESTONSBURG, KY (WOWK) — A ramp collapse at the Jenny Wiley Festival carnival sent five children to the hospital with minor injuries on Wednesday, according to the Prestonsburg Fire Department.

The fire department said they were on a ramp that goes to the top of a carnival ride when it collapsed.

They said no major injuries have been reported.

Prestonsburg Mayor Rick Hughes said he is praying for the five children who were injured.

He praised the fire responders who helped with the situation and said the fire department, police department and EMS were fast with their response, and the emergency room staff, “did a great job taking care of them.”
