CLARK COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A Clark County school is tackling bullying.

On Thursday, Robert D. Campbell Jr. High School (RDC) hosted a bullying prevention assembly to highlight the importance of your actions.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

“For some reason, across the whole entire world, there’s just a big rage of bullying going on. ” Hunter Sadler, a Robert D. Campbell Jr. High student, said.

Creating an environment that fosters learning, independence, respect, and compassion—a mission the school is striving to engrain in every student who passes through their doors.

Students categorized themselves as “upstanders,” which are defined as people who speak or act in support of an individual, particularly someone who intervenes on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied.

“I hope that our students will walk away seeing that every human being goes through something. And although we go through these things and we live through hard times and people can be mean, we can surpass that, we can overcome that, and make our lives whatever we want them to be,” Lacey Damron, 7th-grade school counselor, said.

    LATEST KENTUCKY LISTS AND RANKINGS:

Jeremy Taylor, the speaker at Thursday’s assembly, left the students with one final remark… Hoping to make an impact with the students in attendance. Saying, “It’s another great day to make it a great day.”

“It’s really important because, like I said, everyone comes from a different background. But when you have an adult like the stranger, you don’t even know to come and speak to you about it. Sometimes it just has a lot more meaning,” Samantha Reed, an RDC student, said.

Students we spoke with after the assembly, said moving forward they’re going to strive to make a difference in at least one person’s day moving forward.
