    KSP investigating after Tennessee passenger dies in crash on I-65 in Simpson County

    FRANKLIN, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Troopers with the Kentucky State Police Department (KSP) are investigating a deadly crash that happened in the early hours of Sunday morning on the interstate in Simpson County.

    According to KSP, troopers at Post 3 were dispatched just after 2:50 a.m. to the area of mile-marker 6 of I-65 southbound in Simpson County in response to a crash.

    An initial investigation showed that 24-year-old Alberto Andres of Portland, Tennessee was driving south on I-65 in a white 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. He reportedly left the road and crashed into the rear of a trailer connected to a 2006 Freightliner which was driven by 41-year-old Tiras Prothro from Chicago.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

    Bartolo Freciso, 24, a passenger in the Silverado, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office, KSP said. Andres was taken to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. His condition is currently unknown at this time. Prothro was not injured.

    The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
