PRESTONSBURG, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Police report that a Floyd County man falsely reported his truck stolen after reportedly leading numerous law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase on Sunday evening.

According to the Prestonsburg Police Department (PPD), Kenneth Kyle Greer was said to have been driving his truck recklessly “at an extremely high rate of speed” on U.S. Route 23 near Foggy Mountain in Pikeville.

The department said officers were able to locate the truck in question driving erratically at more than 100 mph. After attempting to pull the truck over, police said the driver fled up U.S. Route 119 before making a U-turn and speeding back down U.S. 23 toward Floyd County at over 120 mph.

Pikeville police chose to stop chasing the driver but continued trying to find the truck, which they later did at the Stanville Cardinal Country Store.

Units had already arrived in the area and spotted the truck as it sped away from the gas station toward U.S. 23, nearly hitting one of the officers head-on in the process, according to PPD That officer claimed to have positively identified Greer in the driver’s seat at that time as well.

Continuing up U.S. 23, Greer was reportedly driving over 120 mph and nearly struck another officer head-on. That officer reportedly identified Greer through the windshield.

The chase continued up Cow Creek into the Endicott community, where Greer allegedly struck another motorist and continued until he reached end-of-state maintenance. From there, the police said he fled on foot and the truck was promptly impounded.
