    1 arrested, hit by vehicle after reported Adair County stabbing

    BURKESVILLE, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — One man is in critical condition after being stabbed during a fight in Adair County.

    Kentucky State Police said the stabbing happened shortly before 12:34 a.m. on Monday on Cary Lane in Burkesville.

    Investigators said 22-year-old Dennis Spears and 42-year-old Timothy Alexander were fighting outside of a home when Spears reportedly stabbed Alexander with a knife. An arrest citation noted that Alexander was stabbed several times.

    Spears allegedly stayed outside of the home and threatened the rest of the people at the home with the knife, according to KSP. Austin White, 25, reportedly hit Spears with his vehicle while he was still outside to stop him from possibly harming anybody else.

    KSP said Spears was taken to TJ Samson Hospital, where he was treated and released into police custody. Alexander was rushed to the Cumberland County Hospital and flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

    He was booked into the Adair County Detention Center and charged with first-degree assault.

    The incident remains under investigation.
