    Lexington police use technology to track down stolen car, alleged thief after break-in on Brown Avenue

    LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Technology helped officers in Lexington find a woman accused of breaking into a residence and stealing a car on Oct. 10.

    The Lexington Police Department (LPD) told FOX 56 that around 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Brown Avenue in response to reports of a burglary.

    When police arrived at the scene, officers learned that an individual had made unlawful entry into the residence and stole the car of a person who lived there, as well as other items, per the LPD.

    “Authorities said officers used the Lexington Police Department'”Using the Lexington Police Department’s Flock License Plate Readers, and Fūsus software, officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle later that day,” authorities said.

    Penny Lineweaver, 40, was arrested and charged with:

    • Second-degree burglary
    • Theft by unlawful taking—auto greater than $10,000 but less than $100,000
    • First-degree possession of methamphetamine

    Lineweaver was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center on Oct. 10.
