LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The former University of Kentucky student who pleaded guilty to assault and other charges will be sentenced on Thursday.

Court documents show Sophia Rosing, 24, bit and kicked a University of Kentucky police officer , intentionally attempting to cause him harm, after assaulting a Black University of Kentucky resident assistant and repeatedly calling them racial slurs.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The incident was captured on video in early November 2022 and brought national attention to Lexington. Boyd Hall, the dorm where Rosing is accused of the crimes, received threatening calls, including a racial slur being played on a loop from outside of Kentucky.

According to previous coverage, in August, Rosing pleaded guilty to:

    • Count 1 amended to fourth-degree assault (police officer)—12 months
    • Counts 2-4 fourth-degree assault as charged—12 months for each count
    • Count 5: disorderly conduct; 100 hours of community service
    • Count 6: alcohol intoxication: $25 fine

Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney Kimberly Baird said that, since her crimes are misdemeanors, the judge has the right to lower the time during sentencing. The judge also will determine if she will serve jail time, be placed on probation for up to two years, or will face a combination of the two.

as bad as it was, I believe it was all publicized too much. the girl was drunk and made horrible decisions. just like many people have. they literally destroyed her life. God bless the black student she used racial slurs against.

She won’t get jail time. Too white. The jail inmates would eat her alive. But she does need community service helping underprivileged black and brown children
